Me before you by Kaylee Rose, is not just one of the lovely songs, but also a lovely way of life.
When you feel thirsty, you don’t wait for anyone to drink water. So why is that you wait for people to join you to go on trips, to go to dinner, movies? Because you, just like everyone else, love good company. Good company should always start with you, even if there isn’t anyone else in that list.
Solo dates teach you that your life doesn’t need an audience to be meaningful.
Here are some of my favourite solo date ideas!
1. Going to the Movies Alone
You are the main character in your life and enjoy a movie of your choice and enjoy the entire tub of popcorn to yourself.
2. Painting
The best part of art is that it always reflects your mood and it is therapy in a fun form. Wear the apron and splash some paint to splash away your worries.
3. Cooking for Yourself
Cook your favourite recipe slowly, without hurry. This time, it’s not a chore, it’s a hobby.
4. A Café Date
Dress up and step out to your favourite coffee shop and sip your fav drink slowly while watching the world around you run in hurry, one stranger at a time. There’s something grounding about sitting still while life moves around you
5. Long drive
Take a long drive to a nearby scenic spot to enjoy the sunrise or sunset. It’s always about the journey.
6. Beach Time
If you’re a beach person like me, sitting on the shore with waves hitting your feet and the breeze hitting your face, would make you forget all the problems for a while.
7. Shopping
Stroll through a busy shopping street or explore your favourite mall once again.
8. Cycling
Pedal your way to a nice pastry shop, because you can cycle away the calories, if you wish to.
9. Hiking
A walk with nature, no matter how hard the terrain is, brings peace in ways words can’t express.
Seasons and people change, but you will be the only constant in your life, so take yourself out, show up for yourself, and enjoy your solo dates as often as you can!
